Mini pocket with a teabags topper.

This week we had to create something with the folding teabags technique, so I choose to make a teabags topper to use as an embellishment on a mini pocket to gift to someone dear to you. I added a video on how to fold the bag in my post on the Hobby Alternatief blog,

This was a little challenge for me, the hype of folding teabags has passed by mess I had to do some research on YouTube how to tackle this. I didn’t have any teabags, I’m more a coffee person, but one of my DT members gave some to me. I made the teabag topper in 2 colours and 2 different sizes and layered them to give them some extra dimension. The video I used to make my teabags topper was one of Origami Twist on YouTube, she has ton’s of tutorial video’s go check her out if you want to give them a try.

To make the little pocket I used a piece of double sided design paper that measures 9 3/4″ x 3 3/4″, you score this strip on both sides at 3 1/4 from each end. Fold both ends in to crea…

Lovely and sweet, word art tag - VMCdesigns

Lovely and sweet, word art tag.

This weeks assignment was a fun one, we had to make something using word art, which is more often used in journaling or in mixed media projects.
I made a card using this technique for a greeting card once before, this time I used it to make a tag. A wonderful technique for a novice because you can’t go wrong, it did take a bit more time then usual because of the layers you keep adding.

I used a suitcase label tag made from craft paper with in the centre an off white card which I sponged around the edges with Walnut Stain ink. With the same ink I gave it a few coffee stains using a stencil. Glued a few pieces of a newspaper on it in a few places to give the tag a bit more body. By that time I didn’t know how to continue so I left it for a day or so.
After a day or so I decided to stamp and cut out the little girl, coloured her in with watercolour brush markers by putting the colour on a laminated white sheet first and picking up the colour with a brush.

Sketch: A star and washi tape.

The past months you have seen several creations made with a sketch to work from, well it’s that time again, this time we had to use a star and washi tape.

But first I want to wish everybody a happy new year, I hope this year will bring you all good health, joy and happiness.
Also I want to thank you all for visiting my blog and website the past year.

The card I made for this week is easy to make so even a beginner can make it, apart from looking for all the materials so the colours matched it only took me about half an hour.

I used an off white bases card from 15 x 10,5 cm with a white mat, 14,5×10 cm on top. On this mat I added the washi tapes according the pattern of the sketch

I have build the star with several layers of teal mirror and silver glitter card stock, I have cut every size of the star twice and stacked them all together to create a nice and full star which I then glued on top of the washi tape I taped on the white mat.

Tip! When using glitt…

A creative new year

It’s the last week from this year and I want to wish all of you a happy, healthy and a creative new year up front.

For this week I had a free choice and what could I have made better then this fast and easy card.

I only used a 210g A4 black card stock to make this card, there was a little piece left that you can use on an other project if you want.

I also made an other card using the same technique, I added those photos here too.

You can read what materials I used in dutch at my HA Blog, I have written more details in there for when you want to know more and all the measurements. To translate it to english or any other language you can use “Google Translate”
Feel free to leave a comment here, on my other blog or on the posts of the other DT members.   It is highly appreciated.
